Barbells from METCON
The Powerlifting Bar is 2.2 m long, weighs 20 kg and is made of alloy steel. It is rated for up to 900 kg as stated. The deep powerlifting knurling provides a secure grip during heavy lifts, and the chrome and Cerakote Red coating protects the surface. The Oly Weightlifting Barbell is designed for Olympic weightlifting: 2 m long, 15 kg, 25 mm shaft diameter for smaller hands, with whip and smoothly rotating plate sleeves. With an Olympic 20 kg bar you cover squats, deadlifts, bench press and Olympic lifts. You can compare all bars in Barbells & Plates.
Plates: Calibrated Steel and colour-coded plates
The Calibrated Steel Plates are made of extremely dense steel and are noticeably thinner than classic bumper plates. This leaves plenty of room on the bar for more plates. Each plate is machine-calibrated so that the loaded weight is reliably accurate. With 0.25, 0.5, 1.25 and 2.5 kg you can make even the smallest increases. The 5 kg plates Sakura, Energy, Mystery and Mocha are colour-coded so you can identify the weight at a glance.
Weight benches and rack
The Adjustable Bench 2.0 offers an adjustable backrest and seat for bench press, incline press, shoulder press, rowing and core training. The Flat Bench 2.0 has no moving parts, which makes it especially stable. The Powerlifting Competition Rack combines a frame with a removable competition bench. You switch quickly from bench press to squats, set the bar height with quick-adjust and protect yourself with the stainless steel spotter arms. You can find more about benches in Weight benches.
Accessories for order and safety
The magnet clips secure your plates and attach magnetically to the rack or power cage so that they are always within reach when you change weights. The weight plate and barbell rack provides fixed storage and reduces trip hazards. You will find more equipment in Training accessories.

Strength training with METCON for beginners
Start with the empty bar and learn the technique before adding weight. Only increase the weight once all repetitions are clean.
| Week |
Sessions |
Content |
| 1 to 2 | 2 per week | Empty bar: squat, deadlift, overhead press, 3 sets of 8 to 10 repetitions |
| 3 to 4 | 2 to 3 per week | Add bench press, increase the weight in small steps |
| 5 to 6 | 3 per week | 3 sets of 5 repetitions at target weight, micro plates for fine increases |
The plan is an example. Adjust weight and volume to your level and plan rest days.
Care and maintenance
- Wipe down the bar, plates and bench after training
- Check screws, adjustment mechanism and supports regularly for a firm fit
- Keep the knurling of the bar clean
- Protect bars and plates from moisture
- Store bars horizontally or in a holder
Avoiding typical mistakes
- Too much weight: technique comes before weight
- Loading unevenly: always load both sides equally
- No safety: use a rack with spotter arms or a spotter
- Plates not secured: use collars such as the Magnet Clips
- Wrong bar: choose the bar that suits the exercise
